Suellen began Tai Chi in 2023, continuing a lifelong dedication to the martial arts, movement and discipline. Suellen earned her black belt in Shukokai Karate and prior to this played competitive cricket. Over the years, she also trained in Kung Fu, practised yoga and is an enthusiastic bushwalker. Through all these activities and sports, she has always been drawn to the focus and resilience of martial arts.

At Legato Tai Chi, Suellen found a practice that unites martial application with mindful awareness — a true integration of mind and body. Suellen travelled to China in 2025 with the Legato Tai Chi team to compete in the 8th Wudang Tai Chi International Fellowship Competition. She achieved gold with her Wudang 9 form and silver with the Fu Chen Feng in individual events and silver in the team event.

Now retired from her career in disability support and psychology, Suellen devotes her time to Tai Chi, family, and the outdoors.
