Master Bing in Australia

Master Zhong Xuechao (Master Bing) is a 15th Generation Disciple of the Wudang San Feng lineage. Master Bing has trained in this style since childhood and is recognised internationally for his work in presenting Wudang Tai Chi and Wushu to the western world.

Master Bing has many years’ experience living and teaching in the US. He now lives with his young family in Wudang China, offering training from his Seven Star Academy in the Wudang Mountains. Master Bing still travels to the US and Europe each year to present workshops and continue sharing his extensive knowledge of Wudang, the Daoist practices and philosophy and Chinese culture.

This is an experience that will enhance and deepen your own practices, no matter what style of Tai Chi you practice now. Master Bing, with his easy smile and gentle approach, offers a unique opportunity for us to see the internal elements of our art. ~ focusing our minds while building a disciplined practice ~ developing awareness of the self in relation to others ~ recognising the impact we each have on the world around us.

SWORD DUEL

MASTER ZHONG XUECHAO

Ever watched a kung fu movie or been playing with your sword form and wondered how you might handle a real duel? How cool would it be to learn a running sequence of sword movements against an opponent?

So let’s do it!!

Master Bing will teach us the movements of his choreographed sword duel routine. Applying the sword in real time, attacking and defending, in a constant flow, with a willing opposition! There will be lots to learn here – a challenging workshop under the guidance of an experienced Master – a bucket list adventure!

Like push hands, this practice will help you understand the movement of energy in opposition and develop the energy you might apply in your sword forms.

Of course, this workshop will suit students already trained in sword handling. However, if you are as keen as a sharpened blade, ask about joining your school’s sword class next term and register for Master Bing’s Sword Basics workshop in April. This will give you the grounding needed for sword play and help you understand how to observe and follow your partner in the the Sword Duel.

TRADITIONAL FU CHEN

MASTER ZHONG XUECHAO

The Fu Chen is a weapon unique to the Wudang style. It is the weapon of the Immortals and is, traditionally, given to disciples when leaving the safety of their Master’s temple after years of training. Introducing the Fu Chen to Australia, Legato Tai Chi offers the Tai Chi form – Fu Chen Feng. Master Bing will present the Traditional Wudang Fu Chen form, practiced in martial art schools across the province.

Please don’t think this is only for the experienced! Students with little to no experience will easily pick up the movements and enjoy the challenge. We begin learning and practising slowly and, as we improve and gain confidence, we’ll go a little faster! It is a weapon that adds some serious fun to your training!

The Fu Chen gives us the physical aspect of Yin Yang theory in practice.

The carved wooden handle represents yang energy and is used for blocking and striking. In times past, a sharp metal barb was attached to the handle, hidden under the tail. This was used to strike acupressure points on the opponent, causing internal injury with the disruption to qi flow.

The horsetail is the yin force. The soft tail flows elegantly, distracting and deceptive in sweeps and swirls. With a sudden flick, this yin tail crosses to yang with a stinging bite, tripping, disarming and surprising opponents with its hidden force.

WUDANG FIVE ANIMAL QIGONG

MASTER ZHONG XUECHAO

Wudang Five Animal Qigong Forms use the traits of animals found in the stories and myths of the Wudang Mountains. They each have a special place in Wudang culture. Turtle, Crane, Snake, Tiger and Dragon are beautifully depicted and interpreted in the Wudang Five Animal Qigong Forms.
