Su Legato has been practicing tai chi for over thirty years and teaching for twenty-five years.

Since discovering her passion for the art, Su has gained national and international recognition as one of the most successful Tai Chi competitors and practitioners to come out of Australia. Active in all areas of the sport, Su holds coaching, instructor & judging accreditations with the Australian Sports Commission plus Duan Wei grading with the Chinese Wushu Association & is a former president of Wushu Tai Chi Qi Gong Australia (WTQA).

Su, a multiple Australian national & state champion title holder, has won gold medals at numerous international competitions and has represented Australia at the elite level competing in two World Championships - placing 22nd in 2003 in Macau and 15th / 17th in 2005 in Vietnam.

For these 10 years on the competition trail, Su followed an arduous, disciplined but gratifying training schedule. Attending classes and training an average of 14 hours per week, squeezed in between her single-parenting duties and running her own small business.

In 2011, Su travelled to China to further her study of the Wudang style & trained under Grand Master Zhong Yun Long, Master Yuan Xiu Gang, 14th and 15th generation Inheritors respectively, of the Wudang San Feng Pai; and under Master Yun Xiang Tseng who now teaches in the US. Along with the physical training required to perform at an international level, Su continues her study in the philosophies & background of the Taoists and traditional Chinese Medicine as it relates to Tai Chi and Qigong.

Su's classes are known for the serious fun everyone has as they learn the sister arts of Tai Chi and Qigong. Following the Taoist way, her students also learn how to enjoy their learning, how to laugh at their own frustrations, to recognise their own impatience, how to find focus, to see with a fresh perspective and how to celebrate each and every success.
